
Epiphany! Counseling and Wellness Center is owned and operated by Diane Dean. Diane is a professional registered nurse, licensed professional counselor, & professionally trained coach. She is certified by the American Nurse’s Credentialing Center in adult psychiatric nursing, and has worked in various health care and educational settings for the past 20+ years. Diane graduated with high honors from Duquesne University & Indiana University of PA. Diane has specialized training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Archetypal Readings, Reiki, and Small Business & Life Coaching. Her areas of interest include group coaching, group therapy, energy psychology, substance use, mindfulness, and gender roles. Ms. Dean treats adults, adolescents and school-age children with mood, personality, relational, and/or substance disorders, and supports those looking for balance in their lives.
Ms. Dean has dedicated her efforts to both clinical work and education. She began her career as a staff nurse and psychiatric nurse educator at St. Francis Medical Center, has developed and refined various intensive outpatient programs for adolescents and adults, and has worked extensively with clients with eating disorders and addictions. Ms. Dean has taught at many colleges and universities, including the University of Pittsburgh, La Roche College and the Community College of Allegheny County.
Ms. Dean has been the recipient of numerous academic and professional awards, including the U.S. National Merit Leadership Award, and she has been named in Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities. In 2011, Diane was awarded the Make Mine a Million $ Business award from Count Me In, the leading national not-for-profit provider of resources, business education, and community support for women entrepreneurs seeking to grow micro businesses to million dollar enterprises.
Ms. Dean speaks and writes on various conventional and non-conventional health topics. Her work has been published in the Allegheny Medical Society’s Bulletin, Nursing Spectrum, and on Livestrong.com. She has guided and coordinated medical, nursing, and counseling student experiences for the duration of her career.
Ms. Dean has training and interest in non-conventional treatments such as therapeutic touch, Reiki, and acupressure. In the late 1990s, she spent several years working alongside Dr. Lewis Mehl-Madrona, author of Coyote Medicine, at the UPMC Shadyside Center for Complementary Medicine. She has also completed her intensive training with Caroline Myss, author of bestsellers The Creation of Health and Sacred Contracts.
Ms. Dean is a life-long resident of Pittsburgh and has two adult children. In her spare time she enjoys reading, writing, photography and traveling.

Heather Fry, Ph.D.Dr. Heather Fry is a Licensed Psychologist and earned her doctorate in Psychology from The Ohio State University. A native of Pittsburgh, Dr. Fry completed her undergraduate studies at Ohio Wesleyan University where she graduated summa cum laude and was inducted as a member to Phi Beta Kappa. Her clinical work has included hospital, outpatient, university, and community-based settings. In 2004, Dr. Fry was commissioned as a lieutenant in the United States Navy where she served as a clinical psychologist at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD and worked with retired and active duty members of the military and their families. She continues to support individuals impacted by military service as a volunteer with several veteran organizations, including the VA medical system. She is a member of the American Psychological Association, The Pennsylvania Psychological Association, and The Greater Pittsburgh Psychological Association.
While Dr. Fry’s work with clients is informed by tenets of multicultural and psychodynamic theories, she believes that each individual is the best guide to their own needs. She views therapy as a collaborative partnership, and appreciates client issues related to trauma & sexual assault, identity development, recurrent anxiety, and chronic mental illness. Her professional interests include the mind-body connection, the integration of spiritual issues in counseling and psychotherapy, and occupational identity and development. Dr. Fry enjoys working with couples and families as well as individuals, and has had extensive experience with the treatment of emotional and behavioral disorders of adolescence and childhood. She believes in helping to create communities that welcome and embrace diversity, and serves as an active member of several faith-based organizations that pursue social justice initiatives in the Pittsburgh area.
Felicia Palazzola, LSW, HTFelicia is a licensed therapist with 30 years experience. She holds a Masters degree in psychiatric social work, certification in Hypnotherapy, and the specialized field of forensic hypnosis. Felicia has extensive training in Reflexology, Reiki, Energy Healing and Self-Hypnosis for Weight Reduction, Smoking Cessation, Pain Management and more. She provides classes, intensives and workshops in many areas of energy healing, meditation, Reiki and Self Hypnosis.
Felicia believes that healing happens on 3 levels; the physical, the emotional/mental, and the spiritual. She believes Integrating various modalities of treatment facilitates more balanced healing, that healing takes place within, and we all possess the capacity to develop that inner healer.
Lisa Fleissner, MS, LPC, NCCLisa Fleissner is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a National Board Certified Counselor. She holds a Masters Degree in Community Counseling from Gannon University and a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Westminster College. Lisa has always enjoyed working with people and has been driven to help others through volunteer activities for many years before completing her undergraduate and graduate studies. Lisa’s drive to help others has lead her to complete her undergraduate, graduate and licensure requirements in a timely fashion while also working in the field and developing her professional experience. Lisa has worked in a variety of settings including group homes, school settings and in-home therapy environments. Lisa has also spent a number of years working in a community mental health outpatient setting treating individuals with drug and alcohol and mental health concerns. Lisa has experience working with children and families as well as adults with anxiety, depression and self-esteem issues.
Lisa’s areas of specialty include grief counseling for children and adults, as well as spirituality, and trauma healing. She believes in the importance of supporting the individual through their own unique journey of progress through this emotionally difficult time. Lisa also values the role of spirituality in counseling and feels that this guides her in her work on a daily basis. She is also open to many forms of spirituality and understands the impact that it can play in the healing process of therapy. She also understands how struggles in spirituality can also create a need for therapy.
Lisa follows’ the principals of Sandra Bloom, M.D when helping individuals with trauma issues. She believes in the importance of the therapist being knowledgeable of how trauma affects individuals on many levels and colors their outlook of the world around them. Lisa champions the individual for working through these trauma’s and provides a supportive environment for healing.
Lisa enjoys working with children and adolescents and has experience helping children with school bullying difficulties. She also has worked with young children utilizing behavioral modification techniques and empowering children to select positive choices for difficult behaviors and situations. She believes in utilizing child therapy techniques such as play therapy. Biblio-therapy and talk therapy when age appropriate.
George achieved his master degree in Social Work at Barry University in Miami, Florida in June of 1994, and has been practicing psychotherapy for 17 years. George’s primary focus is to establish a corrective, emotional relationship with his clients to help lessen the intensity and duration of symptoms. He specializes in treating mood disorder, anxiety and panic disorders, and provides marriage counseling. He also serves a diverse client base including the G.L.B.T. community.

He uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and teaches and encourages communication and anger management skills with couples.
He primarily treats adult men and women, and his clients’ ages range from adolescence through older adulthood. George has been practicing since 1998. He brings a host of experience and skills to his profession, as well as a keen sense of humor.

Anne has been in practice since 2009 since completing the Comprehensive Massage program at the Pittsburgh School of Massage Therapy. Anne offers a wide range of massage techniques, including but not limite
d to, aromatherapy and pregnancy massage.
She believes that massage is a beneficial adjunct in self-care, and uses the “feel-good” hormones released during a massage to the client’s advantage. She encourages massage as an effective method in maintaining health, managing pain and coping with stress.
Anne’s practice is a great opportunity for her to encourage clients to seek out activities that improve the mind-body connection so that each individual can feel his or her best. As part of her practice she encourages clients to exercise in a way that works for them.

Derek Hynds, LMT, BDSDerek performs dual roles at Epiphany! Doubling as a Business Development Specialist and a licensed massage therapist, Derek graduated from Point Park University with a business degree. Derek has been academically recognized for his leadership skills in team management as well as for his hands-on work with clients. He received his Associate’s as an advanced body worker from Career Training Academy in 2007.
Derek firmly believes the client comes first. He creates an atmosphere where clients can find a peaceful break from their day and find their desired inner peace. He has worked in the healthcare field for nearly ten years and enjoys helping his clients feel better through proper assessment, performance and application of massage. With over 7,000 hours of hands-on experience, he is licensed to perform numerous massage techniques, specializing in Western Modalities such as Deep Tissue, Orthopedic/Medical, Sports, Swedish, Trigger Point, and Myofasial Release.
Derek strives to ensure that his clients achieve a maximum comfort level whether suffering from an injury, chronic condition, physical conditioning for an event, or in need of relaxation to restore optimum health.
Lindsey Barton, RD, LDNLindsey is a Registered Dietitian (RD) and Pennsylvania Licensed Dietitian-Nutritionist (LDN). She received her bachelor of science degree in Clinical Dietetics and Nutrition at the University of Pittsburgh. Lindsey is currently pursuing her Master of Science degree in Wellness and Human Performance at the University of Pittsburgh. She is currently a dietitian at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC Weight Management and Wellness Center. Lindsey has experience in the areas of perinatal nutrition, childhood nutrition, and disease prevention/management. Lindsey is passionate about teaching others how to live a healthy lifestyle. She uses a non-diet approach to weight management. Her areas of interest include wellness, fitness, and healthy (and delicious) cooking.
